What a year 2018 was! New team members, new clients and lots of new projects. But for me what’s had the biggest impact is the work we’ve done internally here at fst. This goes all the way back to 2017, when we started working with an inspirational woman called Deborah Henderson. Deborah worked with us in looking at the heart of business – its culture and its people. By studying these 2 aspects of the business and continuing to actively plan and work at them, she gave us a new sense of purpose and a new lease of life.


This certainly reinvigorated me, which is why 2018 was such a productive and happy year. I’m not saying what we, as an agency, have been doing for the past 25 years was wrong, far from it. But sometimes a little bit of perspective from outside the agency helps to reaffirm that you’re headed in the right direction and that you’re actually making a difference to the people and the brands you come into contact with.


So, with 2018 being a year of the “Why” – why we get out of bed in the morning – and “How” – how do we conduct ourselves – it’s led us to ask the “What” question this year:  What’s our contribution to life? It’s a deep question, with no easy answers. But in starting to consider it, it’s allowed us to think about how fst makes the world a better place and how it can continue to do so long into the future. Whilst we are a business, for me we also have a platform from which we can make a difference: to our people, our clients and the world at large.


We all make lasting contributions to those around us and to life itself, we should all be immensely proud of that. Being more conscious of this fact can allow us to think more proactively of how we can continue to make a difference, both as individuals and as an organisation. So, we’re all thoroughly looking forward to searching for the answers to our “What” question this year.
